This is a two-storey side extension to a Grade 2 listed thatched house that used to be a farmhouse located in the centre of the village.The extension provides a double garage, utility room and guest en-suite bedroom at first floor.
In order not to detract from the distinctive appearance of the existing thatched house the two-storey extension is deliberately designed to be visually subservient to the original. This approach is reinforced by using a tiled roof finish instead of the more obvious choice of thatch.
Much of character of the existing house is retained in the new en-suite guest bedroom.
