Flatwoods, Coombe Down, Bath
Flatwoods Rd, Claverton Down, Bath
The site is part of the urban edge of Claverton Down adjacent to open countryside, the development is designed in this context. This is reflected in the informality of the positioning of the dwellings and by the houses being set well back from the boundary which adjoins the Green Belt.
The houses in the surrounding area comprise an eclectic mix of modern, pre and post war houses in varying architectural styles. The proposed new houses are two storeys and designed to blend with the existing mixture using a combination of coursed rubble walling, reconstructed Bath stone ashlar and through- coloured render with slate pitched roofs.
The informality of the layout is inteded to safeguard the protected trees and to reduce any impact on the amenity of neighbouring properties whilst having regard to its relationship with the Green Belt.
