It is often the case with barn conversions that whilst the original building may appear quite large they invariably will not accommodate all the internal spaces required without some compromise.
Although this barn is Grade 2 listed we were able to add an extension becasue it replaced a dilapidated attached single storey cowshed.
The new stone built extension accommodates the new kitchen, utility and cloakroom and is linked to the main barn by a glazed corridor that opens out onto a sunlit terrace.
The interior is lime plastered but the original stone quoins were left exposed.
The straircase gives access to the first floor; as well as the three Bedrooms there is a large Living Room with extensive views across the surrounding countryside.
The original roof was beyond repair and in designing the new oak trussed roof we allowed for the roof space to be converted in the future into additional living accommodation.
